Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked auestions

What hours do you work?

Top of Page

Our normal-rate working hours are from 7:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday to Friday, and from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm on Saturdays when available. Any work requested to be done outside of these times will be considered emergency work and charged accordingly.

Will you be on time for our appointment?

Top of Page

We always endeavour to be on time for our bookings but occasionally this is not possible. Sometimes, the previous job will overrun and sometimes the traffic will be awful. We space our bookings to give us the best chance of arriving on time, but if you can give us a little leeway it would make things easier. Should we anticipate a late arrival, we'll be sure to contact you as soon as we know.

What happens if you are on holidays?

Top of Page

Whenever we are on holidays or away from work with illness, you can still leave a voicemail or email for us which we'll answer upon our return, or while away, if possible. If we’re away for more than a few days, we will also leave an email auto-reply stating when we are due back.

Who pays for parking and congestion charge?

Top of Page

If you live in the congestion charging zone, you will have the charge added to your bill. If you cannot provide parking for us, you will have parking costs added to your bill.

How can I pay?

Top of Page

Our accepted methods of payment are cash or cheque or BACS transfer. Payment is to be made on completion of a job, but this may differ for installation work and commercial work.

Do you carry spare parts for my boiler/appliance/job?

Top of Page

We carry a range of commonly used spares but due to the endless range of appliances fitted in the UK, we simply cannot carry everything! We have accounts with several of the largest parts suppliers and we will do our best to collect or order in parts with as little cost and inconvenience to you as possible. Should you require something urgently, we will be happy to use a courier at your expense.

Will you fully refit my bathroom and kitchen?

Top of Page

No. We are highly experienced in all aspects of gas appliances, central heating and plumbing, but we are not really equipped to fully renovate these rooms. We recommend you employ an expert/specialist kitchen or bathroom fitter for this purpose so they can carry out all necessary works. (plastering, tiling, carpentry etc).

What's this I hear about having to get a new, energy efficient boiler from 2005?

Top of Page

As part of the Government's plan to reduce global warming/CO2 emissions, most new boilers fitted after April 2005 will have to be High Efficiency Boilers with a SEDBUK rating of 'A'. This rating simply refers to the energy efficiency of the appliance. These boilers are usually of the Condensing type. They will be more expensive to buy but they're more efficient reducing both gas bills and carbon dioxide emissions. The new legislation has not been finalised yet and there may be a few exceptions, but for the most part, all new boilers installed after April 2005 will have to be condensing boilers. This includes replacing an old boiler within an existing system. Information on the changes in legislation can be found on the Heating and Hot Water Information Council's website.
